Charles VII lebte hier von 1427 bis 1450, fast durchgehend mit Marie d'Anjou und Tochter Yolande d'Aragon und Agnes Sorel, Dame de Beauté, die offizielle mistress des französischen Königs und Mutter von weiteren Töchter von Charles VII. Die schöne Agnes lebte ganz unten und war mit einer Untergrund-Passage direkt verlinkt mit den Königs Apartements.

The history goes back to of the 5th century. It was in the XVth century that Chinon becomes the most important castle in the kingdom. Charles VII lived in Chinon almost continuously from 1427 to 1450 with his wife Marie d'Anjou and daughter Yolande d'Aragon and Agnes Sorel, Dame de Beauté, she was also the first official mistress of a French King and was the mother of some of Charles VII's leggitimate daughters.The beautyful Agnes lived at the foot of the castle walls and linked to the royal apartments by an undergroud passage.
